Harold graduated from University of Southern Mississippi in ‘Industrial Arts’ and saved his money while he taught school so he could build his own boat. His father had built a number of boats in his lifetime so Harold himself had an excellent teacher in boat building.
Harold has built his own artificial reefs throughout the years on top of using the natural bottom for excellent ‘catchs’ of various kinds of fish. His years of experience exceeds 49 years and he has taught many a deckhand fishing skills. Harold’s son, Allen Staples, has fished with him all his life and is also a captain.
Harold has two children, Allen and Lindley and three grandchildren, Gavin, Madison and Jeb. They fish with their “PawPaw” and are learning the ‘ropes’ of fishing. Fishing has been handed down throughout the years from Harold’s father, Harold Staples, Sr. to Harold, then to Harold’s son, Allen, and now to his grandsons and granddaughter, Gavin, Jeb and Madison.
Harold not only has a lifetime of fishing experience but he has a great love for the sport.
